“”A devastating performance extremely dynamic, intense and with a great driving rhythm” Theaterkrant

The victory over apartheid has not brought South Africa the expected peace. The gap between rich and poor is huge, just like that between black and white. The promised land has not been reached. The South African Sotho word Kanana refers to this. The word is similar to Canaan, the Biblical land promised to Moses. In Via Kanana, Gregory Maqoma and Via Katlehong explore roads that do lead to that promised land. The perfomers of Via Katlehong specialize in pantsula, a dance form of the street that was used to communicate secretly with each other during apartheid. Supplemented with gumboots, tap and step, that gives one big sparkling dance party.
